Step 4 Teach Healthy Habits

Research shows that kids model their parents’ eating habits, their attitudes toward food and their feelings towards their bodies. Kids also learn how to be physically active, or inactive, by watching those around them.

As you take the steps to eat better and be more active, explain to your children why these changes are important. Involve them in grocery shopping and meal preparation. Let the kids pick a fun activity each weekend. You’re teaching healthy habits by actively participating but also by giving them the tools to make better choices themselves.
